Comedy Central UK, Fox make Friends with Better Lives deal

Viacom’s Comedy Central channel in the UK has inked an exclusive two-season deal for upcoming US series Friends with Better Lives.

The comedy, which will bow on US broadcast network CBS next week, stars James Van Der Beek and Kevin Connolly and revolves around a group of friends who are outwardly happy but secretly questioning if their friends have it better.

The pilot was directed by James Burrows, who counts Cheers, Friends, Will & Grace and Frasier among his credits.

Brad Wood, director of acquisitions Comedy Central UK sealed the deal for the UK rights to the show. He said: “I am thrilled that Friends with Better Lives is coming exclusively to Comedy Central UK later this year. The show looks set to be one of the funniest new series to come out of the US this Spring.”

The series is produced by Fox and Kapital Entertainment and sold by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.
