Cineflix’s Dave Clarke joins Shine’s formats team

Cineflix’s format acquisitions chief Dave Clarke has joined rival UK producer-distributor Shine Group in a similar but newly create role.

Clarke has become head of global format acquisitions. The role will see him scout and acquire global non-scripted formats and subsequently manage these for Shine and other rights holders. He joins this week.

He was most recently VP, strategic planning and formats acquisitions at Cineflix. In that role he helped build a formats acquisitions operation of both scripted and non-scripted operations but left in November.

Cineflix effectively ditched its scripted division Cineflix Studios last year amid a restructuring that saw the departure of numerous executives including Simon Lloyd, Jodie Flynn, Noel Hedges and Pete Smith.

Clarke begins his new role this week, working closely with Shine’s global distribution arm Shine International and formats unit Shine Network.

He reports to the heads of the two divisions, Shine International’s Nadine Nohr and Shine Network’s Claudia Danser, who jointly said in a statement: “Dave brings both insight and experience from both acquisitions and commissioning to this new role which will be of great value to our clients. He is a great addition to the team.”
