Netflix inks another European pay TV operator deal

NetflixBuilding41-620x413Danish pay TV and broadband provider Waoo! has partnered with Netflix to offer the VOD service via its TV set-top box.

Waoo! said that its TV customers would now be able to switch between TV channels and the OTT service with the same remote, with Netflix content to be delivered in HD over Waoo!’s fibre broadband.

Viewers will also be able to view content across different devices, clicking to start a movie or TV show on Netflix on the TV, with the option to then switch to smartphone or tablet.

Waoo! said the service would be available on its newest TV boxes, though users have to sign up for Netflix directly with the company.

The deal marks the latest deal between Netflix and a pay TV operator and its first in Denmark.

In September Virgin Media signed a deal with the OTT provider to add the service to its TiVo platform. In October, Netflix was also reported to be in talks with several US cable companies with a view to making its service available via their platforms.
