AMC confirms Saul Goodman Breaking Bad spin-off

Breaking Bad_Vince Gilligan_OFFICIALThe Breaking Bad spin-off series featuring crooked lawyer Saul Goodman has officially been given the greenlight by AMC Networks.

The character, who is played by comic Bob Odenkirk, is getting his own series after protracted talks between Breaking Bad studio Sony Pictures Television and AMC ended in agreement.

The series will provisionally be titled Better Call Saul, a reference to the character’s catchphrase, and be a one-hour prequel focusing on his life before becoming drug kingpin Walter White’s lawyer.

In Breaking Bad, the acclaimed meth drama whose final episodes are currently going out in the US on AMC, Goodman is an underhand but highly resourceful criminal lawyer. He often serves as comic relief and the new show will likely be lighter in tone.

Last month, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan (pictured) told TBI he was “hopeful” AMC and SPT would find a way to create the show, which he is working on with writer Peter Gould.
