Discovery launching Oprah block on TLC

A block of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network programming will be carried on soon-to-launch UK cablenet TLC. OWM management has told TBI they plan similar block launches in other international markets.

OWN co-presidents Erik Logan and Sherri Salata said that they would ultimately like to see full OWN linear channels in international markets. The network, a joint venture between Harpo and Discovery, is currently only distributed in North America.

Female-skewing cable net TLC is about to launch in the UK. The new channel will carry various OWN shows including Oprah’s Next Chapter, Oprah’s Master Class, Oprah’s Lifeclass and Super Soul Sunday.

The UK version of TLC will roll out at the end of the month.

Discovery has been aggressively rolling out the channel internationally and OWN programming is expected to launch on other versions of the service as well as the UK service.
