BBC buys into Nordic cooking trend

BBC Worldwide has acquired a local cooking series for several of its international channels.

Tareq Taylor’s Nordic Cookery will bow on the BBC Lifestyle channel in the Nordic region before being shown on its counterparts in Poland, the Middle East and Africa.

The 8x30mins series, fronted by the eponymous Swedish chef, will debut on the Worldwide channels this June on the Lifestyle channel’s dedicated culinary zone.

Jon Farrar, Worldwide’s vice president of programming, EMEA, said the new series taps into a trend in the cooking genre.

“Nordic cuisine is the hottest global food trend and Tareq Taylor’s Nordic Cookery will explore it with real passion and expertise, taking viewers on a culinary journey to all corners of Scandinavia, and unearthing food traditions,” he said.
