Random House launches new kids series

The production arm of publishing company Random House is developing a new kids series based on Sue Hendra’s book series Wanda and the Alien.

This is the latest series to be developed by Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment (RHCSE), a joint venture between the publisher and producer Komixx.

The series, which follows a little girl rabbit who meets an alien, is being developed in association with Wish Films, which has produced series including Dear Dragon and Wibbly Pig.

The agreement comes a year after Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment struck a deal with FremantleMedia Enterprises to coproduce and distribute two series, Fish Head Steve and The Amazing Adventures of Charlie Small.

Andrew Cole-Bulgin, partner and head of film and TV for RHCSE said: “RHCSE aims to create enduring entertainment brands, with original characters that have global appeal. Wanda is another success story in the making and demonstrates precisely the strength of our children’s and family entertainment portfolio. The story and characters have already led to talks with broadcasters, producers and distributors keen to invest in our vision for this property.”
