Gossip Girl producer Alloy acquires web studio Generate

Alloy Digital, the digital arm of producer and distributor Alloy Entertainment, has acquired online producer and talent management firm Generate.

The digital studio, whose parent company produces series including Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries, will combine the two companies to produce and distribute a range of digital content. Generate, which is run by former WB boss Jordan Levin, had success last year with web content around AMC’s The Walking Dead and MTV’s Teen Wolf and is now working with FremantleMedia on a kids series and a scripted series and has sold several series to CBS Studios.

“The addition of Generate to Alloy Digital firmly places us in a unique position offering expanded and vertically integrated capabilities that will create significant value for our advertisers and consumers, as well as the creative community and potential partners. With this transaction, and with the strength of our combined management teams, we are now the leading next generation media company mirroring the best of both old Hollywood and the new digital era: cost-effective development and production, talent management, distribution, ad sales, social media and promotion all under one roof,” said Alloy CEO Matt Diamond.
