Netflix expands rap competition format ‘Rhythm + Flow’ to Italy

Rhythm + Flow Italy

Netflix has ordered an Italian version of its rap music competition Rhythm + Flow, with Fabri Fibra, Geolier and Rose Villain attached as judges.

Produced by Fremantle, the eight-part Rhythm + Flow Italy will come to the streamer in 2024, following the judges in their search for the best talent from the next generation of rap stars, starting from the most representative cities for Italian rap – Rome, Naples and Milan.

During the competition, young rappers will prove themselves with their freestyle skills, rap battles, and production of original songs, guided by their desire to make their dream come true – and walk away with €100,000 ($107,000). Throughout the show, the three judges will be joined by some of the biggest names in the Italian rap scene, who will help define the outcome of the competition.

The series will be produced by Dino Clemente, Matteo Lenardon, Paola Papa, Antonio Vicaretti and Chiara Guerra, and directed by Alessio Muzi.

Rhythm + Flow originated as a US original, featuring Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and TI as judges, while a French version, Nouvelle École (known internationally as Rhythm + Flow France), debuted on the service last year.
