LA-based indie & FAST operator Gunpowder & Sky has acquired more than 30 TV series and feature films for its Dust and Alter channels.

Dust is a sci-fi focused FAST channel, while Alter is themed around horror content, with both operating on platforms including Roku, Samsung TV, Sling TV, LG, Tubi, Freevee, Vizi,, Xumo and Redbox, as well as on YouTube.

Gunpowder & Sky has boosted these services with series titles including Pop Culture Quest, Weird Or What and Encounter: UFO, as well as features such as Train To Busan, Creep and Hounds Of Love.

According to the firm, Dust and Alter now boasts a collective audience of more than 12 million monthly viewers, while the associated Dust podcast has more than 6 million downloads.

Gunpowder & Sky was founded by Van Toffler and Floris Bauer in 2016 and has been behind titles including Paramount+ show Sometimes When We Touch and Last Exit: Space for Discovery+. In March, the firm hired Fly on the Wall Entertainment’s Catti Alvarez as VP of unscripted development and Abominable Pictures’ exec Natalie Gergely as VP of scripted development.

“It’s amazing to see how quickly our channels are growing, and because of that we are now able to invest a lot more in programming,” said Bauer. “We are excited to take the channels to the next level, offering fans a highly curated mix of iconic titles, as well as boundary-pushing new films and series.”
