Canada’s Bell Media makes double English & French orders for ‘The Traitors’

Canada’s Bell Media has commissioned two separate versions of All3Media reality format The Traitors – one English and the other French-language.

The English-language version had been ordered by Bell-owned broadcaster CTV, with the French version going to its Noovo network. Both versions of the show will be produced by Quebec-based production firm Entourage and hosted by Canadian actor Karine Vanasse.

The Traitors, which was named the world’s ‘fastest-moving’ format in April, as exclusively revealed by TBI, is based on the Dutch series De Verraders, which was developed and produced by All3Media’s IDTV. Other recent orders for the format include RTL in Germany and TV2 in Denmark.

The format sees a group of contestants move into an atmospheric location with the goal to work as a team to complete a series of challenging missions to earn a cash prize.

The catch, however, is that some of the contestants are traitors who will attempt to deceive and manipulate their way to the prize instead of sharing it amongst the group. As this game plays out, the participants must do everything they can to identify the traitors in their midst before it is too late.
