Max acquires Spanish thriller ‘La Unidad – Kabul’ for US

Newly launched Warner Bros. Discovery combined streamer Max has acquired Spanish thriller series La Unidad – Kabul for the US.

The 6 x 60-minute series, which is produced by Spain’s Movistar Plus+ in collaboration with Buendia Estudios, is now available in full on the platform.

The third instalment in the La Unidad franchise, the thriller follows special ops team Carla (Nathalie Poza), Miriam (Marian Alvarez) and Marcos (Michel Noher) whose routine mission to Afghanistan turns into a dangerous nightmare.

The series is distributed by Germany’s Beta Film and has already been sold to 50 territories, including France, Australia, Latin America and the Nordics.

This acquisition from Max comes just a week after its US launch on 23 May, since which the streamer has also greenlit animated series Mermicorno: Starfall, while recent, pre-launch orders include four-part docuseries 100 Years Of Warner Bros. and comedy travel show Conan O’Brien Must Go.
