ITVX lands StudioCanal deal for films & series incl ‘Spiral’ & ‘Hannibal’

Nascent UK streamer ITVX has struck a pact with StudioCanal that will hand it access to shows including Hannibal and Spiral.

The deal will see ITVX carry the StudioCanal Presents service later in the spring, offering more than 400 films such as Paddington and Paddington 2, A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon and classics including The Railway Children starring Jenny Agutter.

Series on offer include Russell T Davies’ dystopian drama Years And Years, all eight seasons of aforementioned French procedural Spiral, hip-hop drama All The Way Up and Danish thriller Below The Surface.

Laura Franses, ITV’s director of content partnerships for streaming, said: “This fantastic collection of films and television series is the perfect addition to ITVX Premium, where subscribers can browse quality content ad-free to their hearts’ content.”

ITVX Premium is an ad-free subscription costing £5.99 ($7.26) per month.

The streamer has been ramping up its originals recently, with shows set to debut on the service before airing on the network. It yesterday ordered a reboot of veteran quiz format Jeopardy! for the UK, with Stephen Fry attached to host.
