The CW has named former Pop TV and Fuse boss Brad Schwartz as president of CW Entertainment.

Schwartz has been behind shows including Schitt’s Creek and will oversee all programming strategy and creative decisions, reporting into Dennis Miller, who replaced Mark Pedowitz as chairman and CEO earlier this month.

The appointment comes amid a turbulent time for The CW, which this week saw dozens of jobs slashed as new owner Nexstar continues its overhaul at the US network.

They include The CW’s EVP of distribution, Betty Ellen Berlamino, who joined around 40 other departees including long-time communications chief, Paul Hewitt.

US station group Nexstar holds a 75% stake in The CW following its deal closed earlier this autumn, with former co-owners Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global each retaining a 12.5% stake in the company.
