Hat Trick boosts format slate

UK-based Hat Trick International has added two new entertainment formats to its MIPCOM line-up – Strangers On A Plane from Strawberry Blond for Channel 4 and Screen Grab from Beezr for BBC Scotland.

Strangers On A Plane is a stripped entertainment format which sees five strangers compete to prove they can holiday better than anyone else. The travellers jet off to the same popular holiday destination with each taking control of the group’s activities for 24 hours. Everyone has a different idea of what makes a good holiday but the participants will need to please not just themselves but four complete strangers.

Screen Grab meanwhile sets out to solve an array of issues caused by our rocketing use of technology. In every self-contained episode, an expert host meets a family in need of help. Dispensing practical tips, tricks and advice, the expert not only identifies and helps solve the screen habits that are ruining lives, but helps to uncover the underlying problems that can lead us to hide behind our devices.

Sarah Tong, director of sales at Hat Trick International, said: “Both Screen Grab and Strangers on a Plane are well-timed formats that, in their different ways, are perfect for our post-pandemic world.”
