‘Tulipop Tales’ renewed after global sales

Icelandic prodco Tulipop Studios has commenced production on further episodes of its 2D animated series Tulipop Tales, following worldwide sales for the existing instalments.

Based on a lifestyle brand created by illustrator Signý Kolbeinsdóttir, the first 13 x 7-minute series launched on Icelandic streamer Siminn in February.

A new run of 52 x 7-minutes has now been greenlit, with distributor Serious Kids having secured sales for series one with a raft of global broadcasters, including NRK Norway, YLE Finland, MBC Middle East, Tele Quebec Canada and Showmax South Africa.

Aimed at upper preschool audiences, the series’ goal is to teach kids important life lessons through engaging and entertaining adventures

Mercury Filmworks appoints COO

Canada’s Mercury Filmworks has appointed Julie Pandeya to the newly-created dual role of chief finance officer & chief operating officer.

Reporting to Clint Eland, Mercury Filmworks’ founder and CEO, Pandeya will oversee finance, business and legal, studio operations, talent management and production operations for the company.

She joins Mercury Filmworks from Canada’s Shoebox, where she served as CFO & COO “leading change to drive profitability.”

Mercury Filmworks is behind animation including Hilda and Kid Cosmic, Rapunzels’ Tangled Adventure and The Lion Guard.

Acamar extends Amazon ‘Bing’ partnership

Amazon’s Prime Video has extended its partnership with Acamar Films for kids show Bing in the UK, Ireland, Italy, and Spain.

The SVOD has signed a multi-year deal, following the success of the show in Italy, and has also acquired Bing’s latest season bringing all 104 episodes of Bing to Italian ‘Bingsters’.

Celebrating the “messy, joyful reality” of pre-school life, the latest series sees Bing, Flop and their friends joined by new characters Nicky and Dr Molly. Adapted for television from the original books by author Ted Dewan, Bing uses the power of story to gently explore strategies for both children and grown-ups to overcome obstacles and when things don’t go to plan.
