M6 AVOD 6play acquires ‘Thérapie’, ‘Real Par Soul Sisters’ & more in Vice content deal

French media group M6 has acquired more than 100 hours of factual content, following an agreement with Vice Distribution, the global sales and licensing arm of Vice Media Group.

The deal will see entertainment, investigative documentary, travel, food and true crime launch shows from Vice launch on M6’s AVOD platform, 6play. Titles available on the platform will include the fourth season of psychoanalytical documentary franchise Thérapie, the obs-doc Real Par Soul Sisters and street food series, Au Camion.

The Vice-branded block will include programming from across the Vice Media Group, which recently completed its acquisition of UK-based Pulse Films, offering French audiences exclusive access to franchises like Dark Side of the 90s, Rise Up and The Story Of as well as content such as GaycationThe Trixie and Katya Show and What Would Diplo Do?

Frédéric de Vincelles, M6’s head of digital programming, said that the partnership was “another step forward in developing a premium AVOD offer in France.

“6play already offers its audience free access to series, movies, exclusive productions and live events. Adding VICE’s content to 6play is a great opportunity to introduce diverse and engaging content to our millions of viewers.”

Announcing the new deal, Bea Hegedus, Vice’s global head of distribution, added: “Vice produces and distributes premium content that resonates with young audiences around the world. We are delighted that a diverse range of Vice programming will now be reaching new audiences via the 6play platform.”
