Exclusive: Chefclub moves into OTT with French & Swiss FAST launch

Paris-based digital food brand Chefclub has struck an agreement with Samsung TV Plus to launch a new FAST channel in France and Switzerland.

The agreement extends Chefclub’s reach into OTT streaming for the first time and follows the channel’s launch in December 2021, rolling out with 50 hours of existing Chefclub content, and 10 hours of new content set to be added every month.

This expansion comes on the heels of Chefclub’s move into linear TV in January, with the development of animated series Chefclub Friends, an action-comedy edutainment series set to debut on the children’s network Chefclub Kids.

Founded in 2016 by brothers Thomas, Jonathan and Axel Lang as a culinary-themed social media brand, Chefclub comprises several digital channels including Chefclub Kids, Chefclub Original, Chefclub Light & Fun, Chefclub Daily and Chefclub Cocktails. It now boasts 100 million followers and 2.5 billion global views a month.

Samsung TV Plus, meanwhile, is a free TV service that comes pre-installed on all 2016-2022 Samsung Smart TVs. It is also available for download from the Google Play and Galaxy Store on select Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Antoine Chotard, leading business development for Samsung TV Plus France, commented, “With innovative storytelling, Chefclub has invented a unique and inclusive concept. Samsung TV Plus is proud to be the launch partner of their new FAST channel and to bring Chefclub’s original content to our French & Swiss audiences, directly to Samsung Smart TVs and Samsung Galaxy smartphones with Samsung TV Plus.”

Thomas Lang, CEO and co-founder at Chefclub, commented, “Now in our sixth successful year, Chefclub has ambitious plans to extend our brand and enrich the experiences of our 100 million followers beyond social media. In our home market of France, a dedicated channel on Samsung TV Plus is a great way to further support our successful digital channels and is a testimony to our high-quality production.”
