Fremantle promotes Mark Deetjen to lead FAST channels global expansion

Mark Deetjen

Fremantle is looking to expand its free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) services around the world and has promoted one of it existing execs to oversee the push.

Mark Deetjen becomes EVP of global channels immediately and will continue to oversee Fremantle’s current digital multicast network and FAST channel, BUZZR, while also now being charged with leveraging the company’s content library to expand its channels business around the world.

He will work with Fremantle’s global sales teams to identify content, create channels and then sell them into regional and international platforms.

Deetjen will also oversee the ongoing programming, marketing and content acquisition strategy for Fremantle’s FAST channels business and reports into international CEO Jens Richter.

He will also continue to report into EVP of finance in North America, David Buchan, on all matters related to BUZZR, the vintage gameshow channel that launched in 2015. Deetjen joined Fremantle that year to oversee the network as SVP of programming and operations, before being promoted to GM.
