Catalina Content & choreographer Laurieann Gibson team for talent format

L-R: Laurieann Gibson & Jeff Collins

Catalina Content, the LA-based production company led by Jeff Collins and backed by Sky Studios, has partnered with director, producer and choreographer Laurieann Gibson to develop a new talent competition format.

The series, titled Icon, will see Gibson go in search of the next global pop sensation. Serving as creator, executive producer and main judge on the show, she will handpick 11 artists to participate in an arduous, transformative 11-week artist development camp to challenge and elevate their artistry as a singer, dancer and dynamic entertainer.

At the culmination of her intensive training, only one will transcend above the rest to receive a highly coveted development deal

Over the course of her more than 20-year career, Gibson has worked with famous music artists such as Lady Gaga, Meg Thee Stallion and The Jonas Brothers. Her TV credits also include reality shows So You Think You Can Dance, Making The BandDance Moms and Beyond The Spotlight.

Collins launched Catalina less than two years ago, with the company producing shows including Notorious for Oxygen, Mighty Underdogs for Discovery+, as well as further unannounced series with Oxygen, A&E and Peacock.

Icon sets itself apart from the traditional competition format that searches for the next best singer; all of our performers will already have award-worthy vocal talent, however, they are in need of guidance when it comes to the polish and presence to conquer and captivate global attention,” said Collins.
