UK financier & distributor Drive & VFX firm Polar Media explore ‘Giant Science’

CERN

UK-based financier and distributor Drive has partnered with VFX and animation producer Polar Media to co-produce a show providing behind-the-scenes access to some of the world’s biggest science projects.

Giant Science (4 x 60 minutes) will explore the operations of the European Space Agency, the international fusion research project ITER, and CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, among others.

The series, which is being unveiled today at MIPCOM to international buyers, will document the feats of bespoke engineering involved in these high-tech science projects and offer CG and VFX to explore the subjects.

Drive is providing finance and distributing the series worldwide. Ben Barrett, joint MD, said: “This is a rare, truly international project that can really shine a light into the most fascinating parts of human endeavour and achievement, and we are confident broadcasters and audiences around the world will respond to it.”

Joe Kane, creative director at Polar Media, added: “These are some of the biggest science projects in the world and we’re thrilled to be working with Drive to help get the series out there.

“Audiences will be able to get behind the scenes and meet the ingenious people who have an unstoppable urge to keep pushing boundaries and asking the most fundamental questions about us and our universe, how it works, how we power it, and how we explore it.”
