Propagate rejigs senior ranks, promotes Isabel San Vargas to equity partner

Isabel San Vargas

US-based Propagate Content has promoted Isabel San Vargas to become an equity partner at the company, just days after it emerged president Greg Lipstone would be departing.

San Vargas has been president of production & operations since 2019, having joined the Untold and Chopped prodco three years earlier. She oversees all aspects of production and operations, including international and domestic production and post-production, and reports to Drew Buckley, group president and COO.

Prior to joining Propagate, San Vargas served as SVP of production for Pilgrim Studios, where she helped launch competition series Top Shot and oversaw The Ultimate Fighter, as well as American Chopper and Street Outlaws.

In addition to San Vargas’s promotion, Propagate has upped Leili Mostajeran to become head of legal & business affairs for the West coast, with David Martinez taking on the East coast remit.

Mostajeran previously worked at Critical Content and Gurney Productions, while Martinez has spent the last 10 years at Electus and Propagate. Both report to Buckley.

“Isabel is a seasoned and trusted leader who consistently delivers results. She is a hands-on operator, and has overseen a number of premium global documentary, scripted and unscripted productions for Propagate during an unyielding global pandemic,” said Propagate chairman & co-CEO Ben Silverman and co-CEO Howard T Owens.

San Vargas’s promotion follows news of Lipstone’s exit earlier this week, with the Propagate president stepping down following three years at the company. Prior to that, he had been CEO at All3Media America.

Propagate’s slate includes Untold on Netflix, Chopped on Food Network, Our Kind Of People on Fox, Charmed for the CW and documentary miniseries Hillary for Hulu.
