Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group has struck a pact that will see shows from US producer Wiip become available on the company’s streamer Viaplay.

The “multi-market partnership” will see Wiip shows join Viaplay’s line-up in the Nordic and Baltic regions, Poland and the Netherlands.

The first show will be The Uninhabitable Earth, a climate change anthology series inspired by David Wallace-Wells’ globally best-selling book of the same name.

It will premiere on Viaplay in 2022 and comprises stand-alone stories covering a wide range of genres about possible futures that could result from the rapid warming of our planet.

The show is executive produced by Hyperobject Industries’ Adam McKay and Kevin Messick, alongside Wiip’s Paul Lee and Mark Roybal, Animal Kingdom’s David Kaplan and Andrea Roa. David Wallace-Wells serves as a consulting producer.

NENT Group is set to premiere at least 50 original productions in 2021 and will produce two major English-language films every year.
