Apple TV+ expands docuseries with second order for UK’s Offspring

Earth At Night In Colour

Apple TV+ has returned to UK-based producer Offspring Films for its latest docuseries, this time a show exploring the sounds of the wild.

Earthsound will use the latest audio recording equipment to bring unusual and never-before-heard sounds from wildlife around the world to screens.

The 12 x 30-minute series is being exec produced by Offspring founder Alex Williamson, who set up the company in 2014. He previously led development at the BBC’s famed Natural History Unit, which has produced shows including Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II.

Offspring has already delivered Earth At Night In Colour to Apple’s nascent streamer, which is preparing to debut the show on 4 December.

Other factual series on its slate include Beastie Boys Story, Boys State and Long Way Up, the latter from Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. It launched on the service last month.

The streamer also recently unveiled launch plans for a trio of documentaries set to be rolled out this autumn, each featuring voice overs by a major celebrity.

Tiny World, which launched last week and is from fellow UK-based prodco Plimsoll Productions, is being narrated by Ant-Man star Paul Rudd; The Crown’s Olivia Colman narrates Becoming You, launching 13 November; and Offspring’s Earth At Night In Colour is narrated by The Night Manager star Tom Hiddleston.
