UK’s TRC offers free media training courses

UK broadcast and digital training organisation TRC has announced that its new schedule of courses for autumn/winter 2020 will be delivered free of charge.

TRC has confirmed that due to the ongoing challenges faced by the industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic, delegates will not have to pay for courses. The organisation says this is made possible through the “continuous support” of its funders – Screen Scotland, BBC Nations and Regions and Channel 4.

The schedule also includes two new training programmes designed to help freelancers and indies based in the nations and regions to navigate through the current crisis. TRC Shorts is a new series of online, interactive training sessions focused on business affairs and launching with ‘Covid Checklist’ on 8 September, which is focused on preparing indues for any changes to business and legal affairs caused by the pandemic.

Meanwhile, ‘Navigating The New Normal’ is a course designed for managing directors, which will cover topics including how to maintain focus, build resilience and boost team morale. The eight-week course is set to run from October to December.

The SuperSizer course also returns this year, aimed at development executives and providing insight into how to win high value commissions and land big returning series. For the first time, the course will be open to freelance as well as in-house execs.

“We’re delighted to launch our new schedule,” said TRC joint-MDs Claire Scally and Margaret Scott, “During lockdown, we’ve continued to provide online training for over 300 people and we’ve been listening to what the industry needs. We wanted to design courses that supported both individuals and companies through a difficult time.”
