TBI names Mark Layton as deputy editor

Television Business International (TBI) has appointed Mark Layton as deputy editor.

Layton has spent the past two years as a freelance news and feature writer for publishers including Future and TI Media, focusing on articles about the TV business and technology.

Prior to that he spent more than five years covering the TV industry for the Press Association, writing about talent both in front of and behind the camera.

He reports into TBI editor Richard Middleton and will work on the TBIVision.com website and print offering, which includes the MIPCOM and MIPTV bumper specials, TBI Kids, TBI Factual, TBI Formats and premium drama title TBI Scripted.

Middleton said: “To appoint someone of the calibre of Mark is fantastic news for TBI, as we continue to expand our coverage of the global TV business. He has been writing about TV more than a decade and will be an integral part of our ambitious and exciting plans for the future.”

Layton, who starts today, said: “I am delighted to be joining the TBI team and look forward to working to ensure that this terrific title remains the go-to source of TV business insight and analysis for readers across the globe.”
