Raw TV scores first Netflix commission as it grows US team with Felicity Morris

Three Identical Strangers

Three Identical Strangers producer Raw TV has scored its first Netflix commission with a documentary series on a cat killer spurred on by Internet notoriety.

The series Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting An Internet Killer centres on a mysterious man who posts videos online of himself torturing and killing kittens and cats. The film follows a group of amateur online sleuths who try to identify and catch him.

The series is directed by Mark Lewis (Silk Road – Death, Drugs and the Dark Web, Revelation: The End of Days), who also doubles as an exec producer at Raw.

Lewis serves as producer on the project, while exec producers include Dimitri Doganis and Adam Hawkins.

Also serving as a producer is Raw’s newly installed head of US documentary development Felicity Morris, who is to oversee a slate of feature docs and premium limited series for the US, as well as international networks and platforms.

She previously produced Raw series Waco: Madman or Messiah? Morris will report into Raw’s US creative director Adam Hawkins and is to work alongside head of US development Oliver Calleja.

This year sees the 10th anniversary of the All3Media-owned prodco’s long-running series Gold Rush for Discovery and season 13 of Locked Up Abroad for Nat Geo. Raw is also in production on feature docs with CNN Films and BBC Storyville.

The film will launch on Netflix on 18 December.

Lewis said: “What is so mind-blowing for me about this documentary series is that it plays out like a real thriller, with twists and turns that noone will see coming, a cast of internet heroes whose resourcefulness will have you cheering from the sidelines, and a murderer whose true identity will have you gasping when he is finally unmasked.  Even I struggle to remember that every moment of this story is true.”

Hawkins said: “Felicity has amazing instincts for what will make a great film and her track record, both in production and development, is exceptional. The need for premium documentaries and great factual story telling has never been stronger. She will be a brilliant addition to the team.”

Doganis added: “Don’t F**k With Cats is one of those stories that if you made it up, no-one would believe you. It’s great to have such a jaw-dropping tale as our first limited series for Netflix, and we are hugely grateful for the support and belief in the project we’ve had from Kate, Jonny and the whole team there.

“With Felicity now in post, we’re hoping we can build on the successes of Three Identical Strangers, The Imposter, and series like this one – so look out for more of the same very soon.”
