UK-based Zig Zag Productions has appointed executive producer and showrunner Ronnie Krensel to lead its operation in the US.
Krensel becomes EVP of Zig Zag USA and will be responsible for heading up the company’s US business, developing and pitching content and branded projects to international streamers, digital platforms and local networks.
He has previously worked on comedy, adventure and science shows for networks including TruTV, Discovery, Youtube Red, BBC and ABC, winning an Emmy Award for his documentary about inner-city education titled A Matter of Degrees.
Krensel will be based out of New York and reports to Zig Zag Productions CEO Danny Fenton.
“We are delighted to have Ronnie join the team and head up our operation in the US. I’ve admired Ronnie’s work for a number of years and his considerable experience will help us expand our US footprint even further,” said Fenton.
Krensel added: “Creativity and originality have never been more important in our industry. I’m excited to be joining a group with a 20-year record of creating exciting and innovative content for networks, streamers, digital platforms and advertisers.”
Last month, US producer-distributor GRB Studios struck an unscripted co-production pact with Zig Zag that will see the two businesses shop and produce unscripted projects between the US and UK.
Zig Zag will take out mutually chosen GRB projects in the UK while GRB will shop its partner’s titles Stateside. Any projects greenlit will be co-produced by the two prodcos.
