Turkcell enters ‘Wild District’ after striking first ZDFE deal

Wild District

Turkish telecoms company and broadcaster Turkcell has SVOD acquired rights to 10-part drama Wild District as part of its first deal with ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE).

The 10 x 60 minute show, which is co-produced by Narcos producer Dynamo (The Hidden Face) and ZDFE, was created by Cristian Conti and directed by Javier Fuentes-León with Carlos Moreno. It tells the story of a man who escapes the Colombian armed conflict only to find himself facing a private war on two fronts.

Turkcell has also acquired SVOD rights to ZDFE shows Beyond Appearances (6 x 52 minutes) and Victor Lessard (30 x 60 minutes) as part of the telecom company’s strategy to bolster the offering on its streaming services.

Robert Franke, VP for drama at ZDFE, described the agreement as “particularly significant” and said it marked “the beginning of new and fruitful partnership in this high-potential territory.”

Turkcell TV+ business director, Baris Zavaroglu, added that he was continuing to look for scripted series for the TV+ service.
