Canal+, BBC2, PBS shoot for the Moon and Back

BBC2 in the UK, PBS in the US and French pay operator Canal+ are preparing to air a documentary to mark the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing.

8 Days: To The Moon And Back (1 x 90 minutes) is being co-produced by BBC Studios’ Science Unit, PBS and The Open University, in association with Canal +.

The feature-length drama documentary will explore the journey of the Apollo 11 spacecraft and its crew using hours of declassified cockpit audio recorded by the astronauts themselves.

Anthony Philipson directs while Philip Ralph has written the show, which uses cutting-edge digital effects and dramatised performances to tell the story of the moon landing, which took place in 1969.
