Disney + unveils unscripted slate as it preps SVOD pitch to investors

Disney has unveiled a robust unscripted slate for its Disney + service ahead of revealing new details of its SVOD to investors later today (11 April).

The mouse house has announced its first overall deal with production house Supper Club, the team behind Netflix’s Chef’s Table, as it positions itself as a direct competitor to the industry leader.

Supper Club will produce two of the 10 food, travel and lifestyle shows for Disney + including Marvel’s 616, an anthological docuseries that explores the Marvel legacy and its intersection with the world. It will also produce wildlife conservation-themed title Earthkeepers.

The founding trio, David Gelb, Brian McGinn and Jason Sterman, will also create and develop additional content for all Disney platforms.

Joining the slate are the Disney-themed cooking show Be Our Chef, fronted by The Office’s Angela Kinsey; a Kristen Bell-produced musical theater/reunion effort Encore! and the kid-focused series Marvel’s Hero Project.

Family therapy show (Re)Connect, from Milojo Productions and Talos Fils, will also appear on the slate, alongside travel guide Rogue Trip from Lincoln Square Productions and Shop Class –  a competition format that features teams of inventive students who are tasked with designing, building, and testing new contraptions.

An untitled docuseries focused on Walt Disney Imagineering, which chronicles the people behind the attractions at Disney’s parks worldwide with never-before-seen footage, will also appear on the slate.

Additional details about Disney+ plans are expected to be revealed this afternoon during an investor presentation in Burbank, California.
