ZDF strengthens its Bridge to Latin America

ZDF has sold the fourth and final season of Bron (The Bridge) to DirecTV Latin America.

The first three seasons were successfully broadcast on the pay-TV channel OnDirecTV, leading the Latin American broadcast to re-up on the Swedish/Danish noir thriller.

“We’re proud to have been the channel to widely introduce Latin American audiences to the incredible storytelling of Scandi-noir,” said Willard Tressel, general manager of OnDirecTV: “Though we’re sad to say goodbye to Bron, we can be assured our viewers will be captivated with this very special series finale.”

The decision to acquire the final season strengthens DirecTV’s claim to have introduced Scandi noir to LatAm, having already launched the hit series The Killing back in 2012.

Bron has proved a mainstay for broadcasters across a number of markets, with viewers tuning in to follow the work of autistic detective Saga Noren.

For Fred Burcksen, president and COO of ZDF Enterprises, DirecTV is the appropriate home for Bron in Latin America, “And we are pleased that the series works so well for them. We are glad to see the worldwide success of Bron continue with the latest season.”
