SVOD platform Netflix has unveiled a first-look, multi-year deal across film and television with Aggregate, a new production company launched by actor, director, producer Jason Bateman (pictured) and producer Michael Costigan (American Gangster, Ghost in the Shell).
To facilitate the deal, Bateman and Costigan will combine their existing film and television slates, and also develop future projects together.
Bateman has had a long relationship with Netflix, currently serving as a director, executive producer and star of the Netflix original drama series Ozark. Commenting on the new venture, he said: “Michael and I are incredibly fortunate that Aggregate has been welcomed into the Netflix fold. Through my experience with Arrested Development and Ozark, I have seen first-hand the positive, thriving culture (there).”
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos added: “I am excited to continue our long relationship with Jason and watch him excel not only as a talented actor and filmmaker, but also as a producer. We are looking to Aggregate as a major supplier for us here at Netflix. The combination of Jason and Michael brings an impressive history of industry experience and relationships here to their new home.”
