Viacom launches Nick Jr on Indonesian mobile platform

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) is joining forces with Indonesia’s leading mobile operator Telkomsel to launch Nick Jr. in the Southeast Asian country.

The deal marks VIMN’s first linear channel deal with a mobile partner in Indonesia.

The preschool linear channel will be available in English and Bahasa Indonesia and follows a previous deal that saw Telkomsel debut the Nickelodeon Play app in Indonesia.

It will offer a range of popular animation titles including PAW Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Nella the Princess Knight and Shimmer and Shine.

“The introduction of the Nick Jr. linear channel on Telkomsel is an example of Viacom forging deep and innovative partnerships with OTT and mobile distributors,” said Mark Whitehead, VIMN president and MD Asia Pacific.

Telkomsel is Indonesia’s largest mobile operator with 196 million subscribers. Crispin Tristram, the company’s VP digital lifestyle, added: “Our subscribers are watching more video via mobile and we need to provide compelling content to suit their needs, especially for kids on the move with their families.”
