MTG launches Norwegian start-up accelerator

MTG has launched a start-up accelerator in Norway that will see it offer digital companies free office space and the chance to collaborate on content, concepts and technology.

Morten MogensenThe Oslo-centred MTG Ignite initiative will see MTG offer support and know-how – rather than money – to help selected start-ups get their businesses off the ground.

MTG told TBI sister title DTVE that the move will help it to stay close to new ideas and innovations surrounding TV, radio and digital platforms, which might in turn be suitable for MTG Norway’s own products and services.

“MTG Ignite has the scale, reach and know-how to help nurture future successes,” said MTG Norway CEO Morten Aass (pictured). “With the right support, a small seed can grow into something big.”

MTG is already working with three digital companies: a cooking platform with recipes and how-to videos called It’s Well Done; a millennial-focused mobile video start-up called Lavo; and MER and The Future Group, which are mixing music videos and virtual reality.

Other start-ups interested in joining MTG Ignite can apply directly through MTG Norway by contacting MTG digital director Trygve Refvem or MTG Ignite development director Jørn Korbi.
