Dan Gopal is leaving ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE) to become Entertainment One’s sales chief across the EMEA region.
He has been appointed executive VP of EMEA sales, reporting to eOne Television International president Stuart Baxter.
The new role will see him leading eOne’s London-based EMEA sales team, with other European sales operations also report into him.
“As the company continues to invest more in content and creative partnerships, we need a bigger and stronger distribution team to drive our commercial growth,” said Baxter. “Dan’s experience at ITV, Disney and Miramax as well as his relationships across Europe will be invaluable.”
Gopal will lead film and television sales to free and pay TV broadcasters and OTT services, and will focus on what eOne has described as “multi-local sales efforts”.
He exits UK broadcaster ITV, where he ran sales of for the ITV Studios’ sales arm, ITVSGE, in EMEA. There, he worked on major deals with Amazon and Netflix among others.
Before that, he spent a decade at Disney Media Distribution before moving to Miramax to run its EMEA distribution business after private equity bought the business from the Mouse House.
“I am really excited to be joining eOne at this time, as they continue to invest in, create and distribute must-see content from their ever evolving line up of creative partnerships,” said Gopal.
“The opportunity to work with Stuart and the fantastic team in Europe was too good to pass up; and I look forward to helping grow the business and ultimately the linear and digital audience, for their incredible slate of first class films and television series.”
eOne’s slate includes The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Designated Survivor, Ransom, Mary Kills People, Cardinal and Gap Year.
