ProSiebenSat.1, TVE check in to Hotel Römantiek

Formats-headerHotel RömantiekMajor European broadcasters ProSiebenSat.1 and TVE have ordered remakes of Belgian format Hotel Römantiek.

Both networks have acquired the format from Brussels-based vendor The New Flemish Primitives (TNFP).

The show launched in Belgium on SBS Broadcasting-owned Vier, and has since consistently drawn ratings 70% above slot average for 18-54s, according to TNFP. A second season has been ordered.

The German version will be produced for SEO Entertainment for ProSieben’s Sat1 channel, while Banijay Group-owned DLO Productions is working up the Spanish version for pubcaster TVE.

Both shows will be line-produced in Switzerland by format owner Woestijnvis, whose programming is sold internationally by format creator Woestijnvis, which is one of three Belgian prodcs that formed TNFP in 2011.

Hotel Römantiek follows group of seniors who search for love while on a trip to scenic Switzerland. They participate in activities, with one couple taken off to a beautiful wood cabin each night.

“We knew this format had broad appeal and now with a public broadcaster and commercial commission we see this is true,” said Siobhan Crawford, head of sales at TNFP. “We thank the producers and broadcasters involved for championing this heart-warming Belgian format.”

Last year, TBI revealed TNFP co-founder Sue Green was exiting.

Former Banijay International sales exec Crawford then joined as head of sales, focusing on formats, with general manager Stephen Allcock taking control of the overall business and leading finished tape deals.
