First US Hispanic deal for BBC Worldwide

Scripted-logo-460_2The-MusketeersBBC Worldwide has shopped drama series The Musketeers to Univision net Unimas, the commercial arm of the UK pubcaster’s first deal with a free-to-air US Hispanic net.

Univision snapped up season one of the swashbuckler and it will go out on Unimas later this year. In the UK, the series went out on BBC One. It has gone to three seasons in the UK and the BBC has said there it will not get a fourth outing.

“This agreement with Univision Networks & Studios, Inc. marks a milestone in the history of our company,” said Anna Gordon, executive VP and managing director of BBC Worldwide Latin America / US Hispanic

“We are convinced that UniMás viewers will become great fans of this extraordinary series that has values ​​such as honesty and courage, with which we can all identify. ”

Andrés Mendoza, vice president of programming at UniMás added: “We are delighted to be able to offer our audience the first season of this hit series.”

The adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas novels is produced by the BBC, BBC America and BBC Worldwide and already goes out on the BBC America channel in the US.

Worldwide has sold it into Asia and to Netflix in some territories.
