Bruckheimer, Sports Illustrated team for crime

Jerry Bruckheimer TV and Sports Illustrated are developing a true crime series about athletes who turned to crime.

Sports Illustrated: True Crime (WT) will see the CSI producer and sport publishing brand team up for the show, which will take an in-depth look at athletic stars who became involved in crime.

Jerry Bruckheimer said: “We are really thrilled to collaborate with Time Inc. and Sports Illustrated on what we feel is the next step in our continuing efforts to bring crime drama to the next level on television.”

Bruckheimer will executive produce. The roster of exec producers also includes Bruce Gersh, senior VP, strategy and business development for Sports Illustrated owner Time Inc., who said: “We are excited to work with Jerry and his outstanding team as we continue to expand the Sports Illustrated brand of storytelling.”

Time has been moving into long form video with projects including four-hour documentary on Princess Diana for ABC.
