Viaplay’s push into original programming has continued with an order for The Lawyer, a scripted series from Hans Rosenfeldt (The Bridge and Marcella, right), Michael Hjort (Sebastian Bergman) and Jens Lapidus (the Easy Money novels).
The ten-part drama series will go out on Viaplay, the Modern Times Group-owned streaming service, and TV3, the Swedish free-TV net also owned by MTG.
Scandi film and TV studio Svensk Film is producing the series, which will follow a successful attorney seeking revenge for the murder of his parents when he was a child.
”We have a very good relationship with Viaplay and TV3 and have put together a fantastic team to do something really special and exciting”, says series producer Nicklas Wikström Nicastro. “We are all very inspired and thrilled to produce a series for them for the first time”
StudioCanal has snagged the international rights and will sell the series internationally. It will launch on free TV and SVOD this autumn.
Viaplay has made an ambitious move into original programming after its first foray into production with Swedish Dicks last year.
