Scripted-logo-460_2Black-ishUS streaming service Hulu has secured a deal with the Disney-ABC Television Group to exclusively stream the US sitcom Black-ish.

ABC comedy Black-ish is about an African American family living in the white upper-middle class suburbs and addresses issues such as police brutality, racism, and LGBTQ+ rights. It has run for three seasons to date.

Last night Tracee Ellis Ross, who plays Dr Rainbow Johnson in the show, won a Golden Globe for best performance by an actress in a television series.

The Walt Disney Company is a joint shareholder in Hulu, alongside 21st Century Fox, NBCUniversal and Turner.

This deal follows Hulu’s first licensing agreement with The Walt Disney Studios for theatrical features on December 27. Last June, they also secured a deal with the Disney-ABC Television Group for kids programming from Disney’s networks in the past year and over 20 Disney Channel Original Movies.

In related news, Hulu has also bought the rights to stream Golden Girls from February 13. The US sitcom, which ran from 1985-1992, is about the lives of four older women sharing a house in Miami.
