Mark Burnett launching Light TV channel

Mark Burnett, Roma Downey and MGM are launching Light TV, a new family and faith-based digital channel.

Mark Burnett 2015MGM TV boss and US producer Burnett and his wife Downey already run faith-based prodco LightWorkers Media, and their new net will run as a local digital channel in the US.

It will launch in partnership with Fox’s local station and affiliates in numerous local markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, LA and New York.

The digital net will have a raft of the MGM’s family-friendly fare with the movie line-up including MGM’s library titles Pink Panther, Little Man Tate and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Burnett said: “With the combined experience of myself and Roma, plus MGM’s family-friendly library, Light TV will become an ideal platform to reach the enormously, underserved family audience.”

“This is the beginning of our new, multiplatform faith and family network, where the demand is greater than ever for family-friendly entertainment,” Downey said. “This is the last unclaimed vertical. As we have already seen from the success of The Bible series and our 20 million social followers, this audience is looking for inspiring and uplifting programming that they can watch in a trusted and safe environment on any platform.”
