Former Cartoon Network boss Stu Snyder set up the deal between Canada-based kids producer and distributor 9 Story and the Little Critter company, which runs the brand.

Little Critter was created by Mercer Mayer and over 200 million books in the series have been sold.

9 Story will produce and distribute an 80x11mins series based on characters from the books. As well as holding the worldwide TV rights, 9 Story will also control the licensing and merchandising for the property.

Snyder brokered the deal through his Snyder Media business. “I am thrilled to welcome 9 Story to the Little Critter team,” he said.

“With their capabilities across CG and 2D animation, commitment to quality storytelling and long-standing track record in international distribution, 9 Story has the passion and know-how to make a Little Critter series a hit show around the world.”

“Little Critter is an extraordinary brand,” added Vince Commisso, president & CEO at 9 Story. “There are very few book based series as well loved, and with such a long history of success.”
