Nigerian film studio Rok Studios is due to launch a new Nollywood channel on Sky in the UK later this week.
Rok will be programmed with thousands of hours of Rok Studios-produced TV shows and movies, and will be run by teams in Lagos and London.
Rok CEO Mary Njoku, who founded Rok Studios in 2013, described the new Rok channel as a celebration of “African stories” and “all things Nollywood”.
“Nollywood’s appeal is truly global; it is not just for Africans, but for film fans in general. As a production house, we have beenobsessed with curating amazing African content and telling African stories our way, and with the launch of Rok on Sky, we can bring our stories to millions more.”
The free-to-air channel will be available to all Sky subscribers on channel 344 from Thursday September 29.
Rok and Rok Studios are part of Nigerian internet and entertainment company Iroko, the provider of over-the-top subscription service IrokoTV.
