Netflix has snagged global rights to Justin Timberlake and The Tennessee Kids, the upcoming doc going behind the scenes at the final date of the famous singer’s latest world tour.
Jonathan Demme – the movie director best-known for Silence of the Lambs who also made 2006 music film Neil Young: Heart of Gold – directs the Timberlake doc.
Gary Goetzman (Mamma Mia!) produced the film. Playtone, which Goetzman founded alongside actor Tom Hanks, is the prodco.
Netflix is increasingly chasing content it can play across all of its services and the deal for Justin Timberlake and The Tennessee Kids gives it exclusive rights to the film, which will be marketed as a Netflix Original.
The film goes behind the scenes at Timberlake’s performance at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, the final date in his two year, 134-show, 20/20 Experience World Tour.
It will be on Netflix around the world from next month.
The film gets its world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival tomorrow.
