CuriosityStream strikes for Scorpion doc

Factual-focused SVOD net CuriosityStream has acquired a Scorpion TV documentary that looks at birth in a new light, for its global service.

The John Hendricks-created platform has tapped UK-based Scorpion for Microbirth, a 1x60mins doc that looks at birthing through microscopic lenses.

CuriosityStream has been building out its offer through acquisitions and originals since launching last year. Its deal covers all operating territories and was one of a number Scorpion has closed.

Portugal’s RTP has bought a package comprising Who is Saving Whom, Zapped, Dirty Gold War, War Reporter, Red Light Green Light, Forbidden Men and Art War, while Al Jazeera in the Middle East bought Andrew Carnegie – Rags to Riches, Power to Peace, Linotype, Cyber Bully and Zapped: The Buzz About Mosquitoes.

TVP acquired a package of twelve docs, including Microbirth and Cannabis to Save My Life, for its international Polish-language service iTVP, while Alliant Content took VOD rights in the US to ten. Australian pubcaster SBS took Payday, Craiglist Joe and Boobs.
