eOne, Endemol Shine execs to run Blumhouse TV

Scripted-logo-460_2US producer Blumhouse Productions is building out its TV arm by hiring heavy hitters Jeremy Gold and Marci Wiseman as divisional co-presidents.

Marci WisemanThe pair come in above Jessica Rhoades, who built The Jinx prodco’s television division, who will be executive VP, head of programming and development going forwards.

Gold was previously executive VP of Kingdom producer Endemol Shine Studios, and ran the unit with Carolyn Bernstein after the departure of Philippe Maigret last year.

However, both execs have left following the appointment of Sharon Hall as president in January. Bernstein moved to National Geographic to oversee its global scripted push.

Wiseman leaves Entertainment One Television to join Blumhouse after just a year after joining as head of a new global business and legal affairs division.

Before that, she had a long spell at AMC Studios, where she set up the company’s digital and distribution divisions, and oversaw the deal that sent The Walking Dead say-and-date around the world on Fox channels.

“Blumhouse is committed to telling genre stories across all screens and we are so excited to take our television division to the next level,” said Blumhouse founder and CEO Jonathan Blum said.

“Charles, Jessica and I have long admired Marci’s and Jeremy’s remarkable track record of growing television businesses and are thrilled to have them on board as we transform Blumhouse Television and build on the remarkable foundation laid by Jessica.”

The new Blumhouse Television chiefs will be based in LA and report to Blum and Blumhouse president Charles Layton.

Besides HBO’s doc series The Jinx, Blumhouse has produced WEtv’s South of Hell and Syfy/CBC coproduction Ascension.
