OSN and NBCU to launch Syfy in MENA

NBCUniversal International Networks’ Syfy channel is due to launch exclusively in the Middle East and North Africa via operator OSN next month.

colin mcleodThe science fiction entertainment channel will go live on July 8, offering original series, movies, Japanese animation, science fiction and fantasy programmes for OSN subscribers in the region – with Arabic subtitles available on most content.

Programming includes high-concept thriler Dark Matter, library series such as Smallville and movies including The Mummy.

The launch follows the signing of a new and expanded long-term deal between OSN and NBCUniversal International, a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation.

Syfy will further establish NBCUniversal International’s portfolio of channels in the regions, which includes E! Entertainment Television.
