CBC opening local Grand Hotel in Egypt

Scripted-logo-460_2GRAND-HOTELEgyptian channel CBC is today launching a remake of Spanish period drama Grand Hotel following a deal with German distributor Beta Films.

The show will debut today in the Ramadan ‘super-primetime’ period – when fasting Muslims in the Middle East and North Africa region deliver networks massive ratings spikes. It will also launch on other channels in the MENA region, according to Beta.

The Arabic version comes from Beelink Productions and Eagle Films, and stars Amr Youssef (Sons of Rizk), Dina El-Sherbiny and Ahmed Dawood.

Based on the Bambu Producciones drama for Atresmedia in Spain, it will follow the lives of people in an iconic Egyptian hotel.

Grand Hotel has already been remade in Italy as the 12x60mins Imperial for pubcaster Rai and Hispanic America as El Hotel de los Secretos for Televisa USA.
