IM Global teams with Depp, Branson for music drama

IM Global will produce a drama about legendary music producer Rick Hall, in association with Johnny Depp’s prodco Infinitum Nihil and Richard Branson’s Virgin Produced.

The drama series will be based on The Man From Muscle Shoals: My Journey from Shame to Fame, the autobiography of music producer Rick Hall.

Virgin and Depp’s involvement had already been announced, but IM Global’s has now come on as the producer. Film business IM has moved into TV recently, with former Syfy boss Mark Stern at the helm.

He said: “We couldn’t be more excited to be in business with this auspicious group of producers on such an incredible project. Rick Hall and his small Alabama recording studio fundamentally transformed the music industry.

“His personal and professional journey and the incredible talent he worked with is a compelling story that will make a great television series.”
